Man charged over attempted robbery and burglaries of Launceston CBD premises
A 36 year old Launceston man has been charged following an attempted robbery and series of burglaries of Launceston CBD premises.
And attempted robbery occurred in George Street Launceston at 4.30pm on Friday 25 May where a male offender threatened another man with a hammer. Nothing was stolen.
Between 16 May 2018 and 29 May 2018, multiple business burglaries were committed on business premises in the Launceston CBD and surrounding areas of the city.
These included Elaia Café, Red Cross, La Cantina Restaurant, Animal Tuckerbox and Youngs Vegie Shed. Some of these premises were repeat victims during the period mentioned.
At 11pm on 30 May 2018, Launceston Detectives apprehended a 36 year old Mayfield man in Boland Street Launceston. At that time he was riding a stolen pushbike.
He has been interviewed and formally charges with Attempted Robbery in relation to the 25 May incident, Burglary x 9, Attempted Burglary X 1 and Stealing x 8.
The man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11.30am today.
