Man arrested over Scamander firearms incident

A 40-year-old Scamander man has been arrested following a firearms incident at a rural property yesterday evening.

The man reportedly threatened people with a firearm while on private property at Upper Scamander, and police were called after the firearm was allegedly discharged.

No one was injured in the incident, and the people involved are known to each other.

The man left the scene prior to police arrival and an investigation commenced, with support being provided to those at the property.

As a result of the investigation, the man presented to St Helens Police Station this afternoon and is now under arrest.

The firearm allegedly used in the incident has been seized by police.
