A police investigation into mail theft from red street post boxes, in conjunction with Australia Post, has resulted in the apprehension of a 29 year old man from Warrane.

Detectives from Bellerive Criminal Investigation Branch intercepted the man, a contracted mail worker, in possession of a number of opened letters and cards, yesterday.

The items have been seized and will be returned to their rightful recipients with the assistance of the Australia Post Customer Care team.

The man will receive a summons to appear in court at a later date.
