Flood levels in the Longford area continue to rise, with an expected peak around 6.00pm this evening.  At present all roads leading into Longford, including Tannery Road off Illawarra Road, remain open with the exception of Woolmers Lane.  Tannery Road will not be closed unless absolutely necessary although some levee gates have been closed around the outskirts of the town.

Police would also like to ask members of the public to stay clear of levee gates in particular when council staff are in the process of installing the gates around the Longford Township.  With a number of heavy vehicles moving about it creates unnecessary risk to the public and hampers construction of those levee gates.
