Log Truck Crash, Trowutta Road, Edith Creek

On 1 August 2017 at 1.15pm Tasmania Police, Tasmania Ambulance Service, Smithton SES and Tasmania Fire Service Units attended a single vehicle crash involving a fully laden log truck which had been travelling north on Trowutta Road just north of Edith Creek.

The truck has negotiated a right hand corner with the trailer entering the soft verge where it has slid down an embankment causing both truck and trailer to roll, spilling its logs into a paddock and blocking the north bound lane.  The truck and trailer received extensive damage as a result of the crash.

The sole occupant and driver of the truck was a 62yr old Sisters Creek man that received minor injuries only and was treated at the scene by Tasmania Ambulance Service.

Trowutta Road was closed for 40 minutes whilst the truck and trailer were removed with the road fully opened to both lanes at 6.30pm.
