The stolen items have predominantly been computers, laptops, cameras and cash.  Four offenders have been apprehended in relation to some of these matters and investigators believe a second group of offenders is operating in this area.

“It is only a matter of time before a perpetrator/s is apprehended by investigators in relation to these most recent home burglaries, however, we would like this to occur as quickly as possible to prevent further home burglaries occurring,” said Detective Inspector Riley.

We are warning the public in these suburbs to be vigilant and report suspicious persons and vehicles so that police can attend as the incident is occurring and investigate the information.  It is particularly important to contact police at the time the incident occurs and to pay particular attention to the sound of smashing glass, person and vehicle descriptions, clothing, registrations and observations of their conduct.

“Previously, with the excellent assistance from the public, these home burglary spates have been quickly stopped at Old Beach and Howrah”, he said.

It is important that members of the public ensure their houses are locked when they are out, particularly rear doors and windows and not overlooking those in the bedrooms, laundry and bathrooms.

On Monday 1 October 2012 at 2.30pm, two male youths acting suspicious in the vicinity of houses on the East Derwent Highway Lindisfarne, were seen jumping fences from property to property.  One of these males was described as 15-18 years old, with short brown hair and grey hoody top and baggy pants.

*If the crime is occurring and/or the offenders are in the area acting suspiciously ring 000
*If the incident has passed call 131444 or the Bellerive Criminal Investigation Branch on 6230 2318.
