Launceston Police have made one of the largest seizures of cannabis in Tasmania.

As the result of an investigation by Northern Drug Investigation Services and the Launceston CIB over the past week, cannabis has been seized totalling 48 kilograms.

The street value is estimated at between $300,000 – $350,000.

Police seized the cannabis from premises in two Launceston suburbs.

Police have charged two people with trafficking. A 29 year old man and a 32 year old man, both from Rosevears, have been summonsed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.

Further investigations are continuing.
