A 49-year-old Kingston woman has been charged with high range drink driving and disqualified from driving for a period of 12 months after returning a reading of 0.301.

Around 3pm on Thursday, Tasmania Police received information from a member of the public regarding the driving behaviour of a white Toyota Corolla. Hobart Police detected the vehicle on Davey Street soon after.

Acting Inspector Rick Newman said it was really disappointing that police continue to detect people who think it is ok to drive when they have consumed alcohol.

“They are not only putting themselves, but other drivers and members of the community at risk,” Acting Inspector Newman said.

“We ask drivers to reconsider their need to drive after drinking. We all have a part to play in keeping everyone safe on our roads, not just police.

“As always, police need the community’s support and we would like to thank the person who contacted us and reported this instance of dangerous driving.”

The woman has been bailed and is due to appear in court on 28 June.

Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving is asked to call police on the first instance on 131 444, or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
