Kingston division
At the time the budget was released in June Tasmania Police outlined a comprehensive strategy to deal with the cuts.
As previously announced, that included the withdrawal of most of the 30 additional positions which were allocated in March. Kingston Division received 5 of those additional officers and 4 constable positions will be withdrawn.
The Kingston station will retain 9 constables, one sergeant and one senior sergeant, plus CIB resources. The division will remain one position better off than prior to the additional March allocation.
“We have been forthright during this process in saying that there will be fewer police available, but the safety of both the community and our officers remains a priority,” said Southern District Commander, Peter Edwards.
“We are constantly monitoring demand for policing services and it is important to note that the Commanders have the flexibility to deploy resources from within their Districts as demand and circumstances change,” said Mr Edwards.
“We continue to work through strategies to provide the most effective policing service within our allocated resources.”
