Kingston charges – home burglaries

Over the past three months, a lengthy and targeted criminal investigation has been undertaken in respect to a group of suspects believed to have been responsible for a series of home burglaries committed across the Kingston Division.

Police yesterday charged a male youth, an adult male and an adult female with a range of property related crimes and they will appear at court next month. The charges include 14 counts of Aggravated Burglary, 12 counts of Stealing and 2 counts of Receiving Stolen Property. The total value of the property associated with these crimes is in excess of $50,000. A proportion of this property has been recovered and police intend to have these seized items returned to their rightful owners. Investigations are continuing and it is anticipated that further offenders will be charged in due course.

Kingston Divisional Inspector Tony Cerritelli said that this group of offenders is believed to be involved in the majority of the home burglaries committed across the Kingston Division. He said that police greatly appreciated the assistance and information that was provided to them by the public and through this level of co-operation, an excellent outcome was achieved.

Any member of the public who has information relating to the burglaries that were committed in the Dulcot, Leslie Vale, Margate, Sandfly and Conningham areas over recent months is requested to contact the Kingston Police on 62 11 8000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
