On Monday 26 January 2015, Detectives from Western CIB travelled to King Island and began inquiries into the structure fire at Edwards Street, Currie.

Late last night detectives and local King Island police searched a Currie residence and arrested and charged a 20 year old Currie man in relation to the fire.

“The man will appear in court on the island later today, 27 January 2015, facing complaints of arson, burglary and stealing,” said Detective Acting Inspector Richard Chugg.

“The timely manner in which the alleged offender was identified, was in no small part due to the efforts of local Police and the excellent assistance provided by the King Island Community,” he said.
