Kempton Robbery
At 4.30 am Saturday 20 March 2021, two men gained entry to a house in Kempton and confronted the occupants, a 74 year old man and his 60 year old wife, and demanded the takings from the local post office.
Detective Inspector Craig Joel said: “The men were wearing face coverings, revealing their eyes only.”
One of the men was wearing a grey hoodie and grey pants or similar. He may have been aged about 30 years and was about 172 cm in height
The second man was taller then the first and was wearing a grey hoodie. He also had a head covering, possibly a cut off sleeve.
The men used force to detain the couple before fleeing with cash.
The men may have been driving a white utility that looks like an early model Toyota Hilux with a canopy. The vehicle drove off in a northern direction and may have driven over the Lakes.
Detective Inspector Joel said: “These men have entered the house of this elderly couple and acted callously in taking the takings from their local business. Investigators from Glenorchy CIB are working to identify these men but are seeking public assistance.”
“If anyone living in the area has CCTV or dash cam footage and was travelling along the Midlands Highway near Kempton at 4.30 am this morning in either direction, would you please contact your local police station or Crimestoppers on 1800333000.”
“That footage may be critical to the police investigation.”
Detective Inspector Joel is available to talk to the media at Hobart Police Headquarters at 4.00 pm.
