Investigations into property damage in Devonport
Police are investigating incidents of property damage which have occurred in the Devonport area in the past week.
The property damage consists of business windows, a vehicle window and a metal fence. It’s believed that on at least one of these occasions a firearm was used to cause the damage to property. Investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the other damage.
“There is a common link between all three incidents indicating that this is not a random act and police believe this is a targeted incident. No one was injured in any of the incidents and there is no threat to the wider community,” Detective Sergeant Johnston said.
Police are interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen an older style white dual cab utility that was travelling on Watkinson Street, Devonport around 6am on Sunday 6 October 2019.
Meanwhile, another report of damage to a Sassafras service station is also being investigated by police. Enquiries are still continuing in relation to the cause but police don’t believe there is any link with the other reports of damage.
