Investigations are continuing in relation to the fatality on Baskerville Road, Old Beach, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Sadly, a 16-year-old girl died at the scene of a single vehicle crash which occurred on Baskerville Road at Old Beach.

A white Holden Barina driven by a 20 year old man with a Learner’s license crashed into a power pole after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Fire Service crews attended the incident.

Two passengers in the vehicle were a 17 year old male youth and the 16 year old deceased youth.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor.

The name of the deceased will not be released at this stage as permission has not been granted by the next of kin.
