Investigation Update – Great White shark death
Tasmania Police, along with members of the Department of Primary Industries Water and Environment, have concluded their investigation in the taking of a Great White shark in the Smithton area on the 9th of January 2021.
Three people have been interviewed regarding the matter. The file will be assessed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Police would like to thank members of the community for their information and assistance in the matter.
Acting Sergeant Paul Murphy from Western Marines Services said:
“This incident is a timely reminder for all recreational fishers to be fully aware of what marine life they are catching and to ensure they know all rules and regulations surrounding their fishing activities.”
