Tasmania Police and Fire Service are investigating the cause of a fire which resulted in substantial damage to the Commonwealth Bank at 154 Elphin Rd, Newstead. The fire was reported just before midnight on Tuesday 1 July 2014. Investigating agencies are still waiting to examine surveillance footage from within the bank itself.

Police are interested in identifying a man, who was seen in the vicinity of the bank in the Zap Fitness car park, around 11.30pm on 1 July 2014.

The fire at this stage is still undetermined but anyone who has any information should contact Tasmania Fire Service or Tasmania Police.
