Launceston CIB Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby.

The 9 week old baby girl was admitted to hospital on Sunday, and died in the Royal Hobart Hospital last night.

A post mortem examination will be undertaken today.

It is not appropriate to comment further on this matter while the investigation is underway.
