On Sunday 26/05/2013, at 18.30hrs Tasmania Police received a call from an injured yachtsman who was approximately 5 miles offshore from Stanley.

The 78 year old male yachtsman was injured after a wave struck his 21ft yacht.

A local commercial fisherman responded to a request for assistance from local marine radio operator, Mark Kay. The fisherman located the vessel of concern and towed it to Stanley Harbour.

The injured yachtsman was treated in Hospital.

Police would like to thank the commercial fisherman who assisted with this incident.
