Information Required About A Car Used In The Commission Of Murder

Detectives investigating the Pine Avenue murder would like to speak to anyone who saw a 1991- 1994 year model light blue coloured Mitsubishi Magna sedan in the vicinity of Pine Avenue in Kingston, or driving through the city along Macquarie Street or the Brooker Highway to Glenorchy after midnight or the early hours of Saturday morning.

Just prior to midnight on Friday 17 January 2014 a 41 year man was shot and subsequently died at a private house in Pine Avenue in Kingston. The man was discovered in the backyard of the house. Detectives have charged a 19 year old man from Lenah Valley with murder.

“The vehicle in question is alleged to have been used by the accused man, it may have visited your service station, fast food outlet or passed by your house,” said Detective Acting Inspector Craig Joel of Hobart CIB.

“A major crime team has been established at Kingston Police Station and is sifting through a vast amount of information and evidence, however we are still appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” he said.

“Sometimes even the most fleeting glimpse or observation might be a critical link in the investigation,” he said, reminding the public that information can be given anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

The accused man has been committed to the Supreme Court in Hobart on 17 March 2014.

“Support to the community is on-going and important at times like these and if anyone would like to speak to a Community Social Worker they can do so at the Kingston Community Health Centre in John Street at Kingston,” said Detective Acting Inspector Joel.
