Informant Management Policy
The use of informants is recognised as a legitimate and important investigative tool for police.
The management of informants must be of the highest ethical and professional standard.
The management of informants by Tasmania Police is strictly regulated and controlled through policy and guidelines, which have been in place since 1999.
Tasmania Police has no record and is not aware of lawyers ever being used to inform on clients.
There are no lawyers on our informant registers.
