Incidents at Herdsmans Cove

Police are investigating a couple of incidents, which are believed to be related, in the Herdsmans Cove area yesterday.

At around 4.40pm yesterday police responded to reports of a firearm discharge on Whelan Drive, Herdsmans Cove.

Upon arrival at the scene police spoke with the complainant who mentioned an argument had escalated between two people, known to one another.  Both men had left in vehicles prior to police arrival.

Police conducted extensive enquiries in the area and spoke with a number of witnesses.

Following up on information police located one of the vehicles involved.  It was confiscated and examined.

Around 2.30am Police and Tas Fire Service were called to a vehicle fire in Claremont, which was found to be deliberately lit and subsequently related to events of the passed evening.

Investigations continue however police are following a specific line of enquiry and believe the incidents are isolated between a couple of parties known to each other.
