Incident in Tootonga St, Chigwell

Approximately 6pm on Friday August 25 2017 police received a 000 call from the residence at 7 Tootonga Street, Chigwell in relation to a Family Violence incident.

Upon attendance police were confronted by a male who was armed with a firearm and threatening police and himself. The street was closed and negotiations were commenced which eventually resulted in a 40 year old Chigwell man being safely taken in to custody and a stolen .22 Rifle being recovered.

This male has since been charged with Common Assault, Aggravated Assault x 2, Breaching a Restraint Order x 2, Possessing a Stolen Firearm x 1 and further firearm offences. The male was detained to appear in court later today with bail to be opposed.

No persons were injured as a result of this incident and investigations in to the matter are ongoing.
