At about 8.30pm on Monday 4 April 2011 human remains were discovered off Excalibur Road at Hollybank near Lilydale.

As a result Police in company with Forensics attended the scene last night and initial investigations were commenced.  The scene was secured overnight and this morning Police from Forensics, Ballistics, and the Forensic Pathologist attended the scene to conduct a full examination of the scene.

The human remains were located just off the roadway and were partially burnt.

Ongoing investigations have been progressing today and a number of persons have come forward to assist Police in their enquiries.  As a result Launceston CIB are now following a number of lines of enquiry and at present 2 persons are assisting police with their enquiries.
