Shortly after 12:00am on Thursday the 9 February 2012 Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service were called to a residence on fire at Turner Crescent in Shorewell Park.  On arrival a section of the residence was well alight.  It was quickly determined that the residence was vacant.  Tasmania Fire Service extinguished the fire quickly, limiting the damage.

The residence is privately owned and used as a rental property.  The estimated cost of the damage is $50,000.

Four youths have been questioned in relation to the fire and will be proceeded against by way of the Youth Justice Diversion process.
