Just before 8:30pm last night emergency services were called to a house fire in Mole Creek Road, Red Hills.

On arrival, the rear section of the timber home was found to be well alight, with the fire quickly engulfing the entire two-story structure.  Multiple Tasmania Fire Service crews worked on the fire for three hours, however the house was completely destroyed.  The only occupant of the house at the time was uninjured.  The house was believed to be approximately 150 years old and the damage is estimated to be $500,000.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, with Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service continuing their investigation in to the cause of the fire.
