House Fire – Hortus Place, Newnham

At about 12:50pm on Sunday 25th of March 2018 Tasmania Fire Service responded to a house fire at Hortus Place at Newnham.

Early investigations indicate that the house had been unlawfully entered and set alight. The fire was contained to the bathroom and damage is estimated at about $25,000.  The house is privately owned but the occupants were away at the time.

Police seek anyone with information regarding this crime, or information relating to two male youths observed in the area shortly before, to contact Launceston CIB or Crimestoppers.

The first male youth is described as Caucasian about 15 – 16 years old, 5 foot 4 inches, slim build, short dark hair, wearing a dark t-shirt, long pants and a dark coloured baseball cap.

The second male youth is described as Caucasian, aged about 15 – 16 years old, 5 foot 7 inches, slim build, dark blonde hair, shoulder length, wearing a khaki jacket, light jeans and a dark coloured baseball cap.
