House fire – George Town
At approximately 3.17am on Tuesday 22 May 2012 a house fire at George Town was reported to police and fire crews. The residence at 21 Gordon Square was well alight by the time the first crews arrived on the scene.
Although the blaze was brought under control and extinguished relatively quickly, the house has suffered extensive damage and will need to be demolished.
The residence is a vacant Housing Tasmania property and an estimate value of the damage is $150,000. At this stage, the blaze appears to be suspicious and Tasmania Police are investigating the matter.
