House Fire, Bridgewater

Approximately 10pm on Tuesday 7th August 2012, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service were notified of a house fire at 9 Douglas Drive, Bridgewater.

Police and Tasmania Fire Service attended the scene with TFS quickly extinguishing the fire.  The residence is owned by Housing Tasmania and it was unoccupied at the time of the fire. About $15,000 damage was caused to the residence.

An investigation revealed that the fire was deliberately lit and Tasmania Police would like any person who may have any information in relation to this fire to contact Bridgewater CIB (03) 6268 4101 or Crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.  Members of the public are reminded that Housing Tasmania offer a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to a conviction.

It would appear that this Arson is a senseless act, committed by persons with no regard for Housing Tasmania property.  It is particularly concerning when Housing Tasmania properties are in high demand.
