At approximately 8:45pm on Wednesday February 2, there was a structure fire at 46 Charles Street, Orford.  At this time there were four occupants in the house. A 51 year old male was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital by Tasmania Ambulance Service with minor smoke inhalation.

Volunteers from Tasmania Fire Service attended the scene however by this stage the house was engulfed in flames.  The damage caused to the house is estimated to be around $450,000. Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service are investigating the matter. At this point in time the cause of the fire is undetermined.
