House fire at Clarendon Vale

At approximately 1am on Sunday 24 August 2014 a house fire was reported to the Tasmania Fire Service at 9 Avro Court, Clarendon Vale.  Tasmania Police were advised and emergency services arrived shortly later.

Police found the residence well alight and the sole 40 year old male occupant was located outside the residence with burns to his face and hands.   Tasmania Ambulance Service was called and attended the scene.  They treated the male and conveyed him to the Royal Hobart Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  He has been admitted to the Royal Hobart Hospital and is in a stable condition.

Tasmania Fire Service extinguished the burning residence and an investigation commenced into the causes of the fire.  Forensic Services, Fire Scene Investigators and CIB officers will attend later today to continue the investigation.

The residence is owned by Housing Tasmania and is managed by Mission Australia.  An early estimate of the value of damage is in the vicinity of $150,000.
