Police were called to a house fire at Canberra Road, Claremont shortly before 12pm today.

Upon police arrival both the home and a vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence were well alight.

The 49-year-old occupant of the home was the only person to be injured as a result of the fire, receiving minor burn injuries to his head and arms. He was later treated in hospital for superficial injuries.

Investigations into the fire are continuing but the fire is deemed to be suspicious.

Both the home and vehicle were completely destroyed.
