In the early hours of Saturday 4^th September 2021, a Housing Department residence at Bowick Court in Wynyard was destroyed by fire.   Tasmania Fire Service attended and took control of the blaze, but the house and contents were completely destroyed.    There were no occupants at home at the time of the fire.

Police remained on scene throughout the morning while investigations were carried out with Police and Fire Service members.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and police investigators are currently following a specific line of enquiry.

The fire has been estimated to have caused approx. $300,000 damage.
