House and Unit destroyed by Fire
A house and a unit in Ravenswood have been destroyed in two separate fires overnight.
Police and fire brigade crews were initially called to attend a house fire in Hugo Place, Ravenswood at 0404 am. When they arrived the house was well alight.
A second fire was then noticed within a unit complex on Pioneer Parade.
Police were first at that scene and found a unit also well alight. Fire brigade crews arrived a short time later.
Both the house and the unit were Housing properties and both were occupied. The residents of both properties were not home at the time of the fires. No one was injured in either fire.
Damage to the Hugo Place house is estimated at $250,000 while damage to the property at Pioneer Parade is estimated at $150,000.
Both fires are being treated as suspicious and will be investigated by Tasmania Police CIB and Forensics and Tasmania Fire Service investigators.
