Bellerive CIB Detectives are investigating an incident last night in which a man armed with a firearm entered a Mount Rumney residence.

A 65 year old man, his wife and 35 year old son were home when a man forced entry to the home via the laundry door around 12:20am.

The offender was wearing a balaclava and was holding a firearm.  The offender is described as about 170cm tall.

The 65 year old man confronted the offender and pushed him out of the laundry door.  The offender then left the residence.

The 65 year old man received a minor injury to his head in the altercation. No property was stolen and no one else was injured.

The property at Grahams Road, Mount Rumney, is in a semi-rural location, and police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around the property last night.
