Detectives from Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch are currently investigating a house burglary that occurred during the day on Tuesday 1 April 2014, at Newnham.  During the burglary a total of 13 firearms were stolen from the residence.  No ammunition was taken.

The owner of the firearms holds a current firearms licence and the stolen firearms were all registered and stored correctly in accordance with the Firearms Act 1996.

Launceston CIB and Northern Forensics attended the scene and investigations are continuing.

The burglary was committed during daylight hours and police are requesting the assistance of any members of the public who may have seen any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously in the Newnham/Mayfield area.
