Home Burglary Bellerive

In the early hours of Saturday 10th November 2012 a man entered a house in Bellerive to commit a burglary.  At this time the occupants of the residence were present and were woken by the male.  During the course of the burglary, one of the residents was assaulted as the offender attempted to flee.

Following the burglary, a male attempted to obtain goods from several Hobart City stores on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th November 2012 using cards stolen from the burglary.  He has been frequenting the Hobart CBD.

This male person was captured on CCTV footage.  He is described as having brown hair with a crew cut style hair cut very short at the sides, approximately 183cm, medium build with a tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Police have reason to believe that this male person has a propensity towards violence.  If sighted police advise he should not be approached and request  information in relation to his whereabouts to be reported direct to Bellerive CIB on 6230 2641 or to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigators are treating this burglary extremely seriously.  This is an isolated incident in which an occupant was assaulted and is most distressing for the victims.

“Bellerive CIB is committed to investigating this crime and we have a good record in catching those responsible,” said Detective Inspector Riley.

Bellerive CIB have charged 15 offenders since the 1 September 2012 with home burglaries in the Warrane, Lindisfarne, Bellerive, Howrah and Tranmere areas.
