Home burglary and assault

Detectives from the Eastern District Criminal Investigation Branch are conducting enquiries in relation to a home burglary and assault that occurred at 10:30pm on Tuesday 1 November 2011, at a residence at Sandford.

An adult male and female returned home to their residence and disturbed three males inside their house, each had a makeshift weapon.  On confronting the intruders and prior to them leaving the residence, the male was assaulted to the face.

He was admitted to hospital and a fracture to his eye socket and jaw was detected.  The injured male was released from hospital yesterday.

The three offenders were wearing dark coloured clothing including gloves, two wore dark coloured balaclavas and the third one wore a ski mask:

  • Offender 1: 182 cm or six foot tall, skinny, unusual or large eyes.
  • Offender 2: 182 cm or six foot tall and medium build.
  • Offender 3: 174 cm tall, stocky, dark brown hair with a slight curl, spoke with a strong stutter.

Two females appear to also be involved and were in a Blue Ford Falcon sedan:

  • Female 1: small in height, dark coloured hair in a ponytail, late 20s to early 30s
  • Female 2: red hair in a bob, fair complexion with freckles.

The motivation for this incident appears to be drug related and involves demanding money.

Investigators are seeking assistance from the public as to the identity of the offenders. Anyone with information is asked to contact Eastern District Criminal Investigation Branch on 6230 2318 or Crime Stoppers where they can leave the information anonymously on 1800 333 000 – there is the possibility of a reward for information provided.

Investigators have conducted enquiries in the area, a detailed forensic examination of the crime scene and are following a number of lines of enquiry.
