Home burglaries – Northern district

Launceston CIB is investigating a series of home burglaries that have occurred in the Northern District during the past six weeks.

Offenders are targeting homes during the day while the owners are away. Money, jewellery, electrical items, cameras and laptop computers are items of particular interest to the offenders.

Affected suburbs include Riverside, South Launceston, Prospect, Legana, Relbia, Perth, Sidmouth and Glengarry.

Police encourage the public to record serial numbers of valuable items and where appropriate engrave/mark items to assist with property identification.

Police would like to hear from witnesses who observe any suspicious activity in these areas, particularly if vehicles or persons enter private dwellings enquiring after people who don’t live at the address or provide other suspicious reasons for being at the address.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, where information can be left anonymously.
