Home burglaries, Glenorchy

Detectives from the Glenorchy Criminal Investigation Branch are seeking the assistance of the public in relation to several home burglaries in the Glenorchy area over the last week.

The home burglaries occurred both overnight and during daylight hours.  The property that is stolen consists of jewellery, mobile phones, computers, cameras and playstation consoles.

It is timely to remind the public to be vigilant with their home security at all times whether at home or away from the residence. A monitored security alarm will always be the best deterrent to home burglaries. Any additional forms of security should be maintained including deadlocks to front and back doors where possible and deadlocks on windows. Police request that residents ensure that their front and back doors and windows are locked even when home overnight.

Police ask members of the public to be vigilant in respect to any suspicious activity they may witness, such as persons or vehicles acting suspiciously around houses. In order to assist police with the potential detection of offenders it is asked that as much description be obtained as possible of suspicious persons and where possible registration numbers of vehicles that act suspiciously are obtained and that this information is passed on to the police. It is also requested that members of the public contact police at the time that this is occurring.

Detectives would be keen to hear from any members of the public who have information on person/s responsible for the home burglaries or information on any persons who receive or store stolen property or the whereabouts or current location of any buildings where such property may be stored. Police wish to assure the public that their information will be treated with the utmost confidence. Such information can be passed on to Glenorchy CIB on 62 302671 or to Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.

Police wish to assure the public that there is no cause to be alarmed in relation to the home burglaries but rather the appeal to the public is to request their assistance to help bring a resolution to these crimes.

Should members of the public feel threatened in such an instance of home burglaries then police would urge them to ring “000” if the matter is of an urgent nature.
