The Wooden Boat Festival is providing quite a spectacle down at the Hobart waterfront this afternoon and traffic is congested.

Motorists experienced significant delays in the post-work rush hour yesterday afternoon as a result of increased traffic to the waterfront area and drivers slowing down to view the boats.

Traffic delays in the waterfront area and in the Hobart CBD are already proving to be more severe this afternoon.

Police are advising that people wishing to minimise delays should avoid the waterfront area and if possible, avoid driving in the Hobart CBD during peak hour.

Motorists are asked to please keep their eyes on the road, watch out for pedestrians and be patient.
