Hit and run Howrah – witnesses sought

Police are seeking assistance from members of the public who may have witnessed a female pedestrian being struck by a car at the junction of High Street and Clarence Street Howrah approximately 10.30am today, Friday the 21st June 2013.

The vehicle is described as a white station wagon however it is possible the car could have been a utility. The driver is described as an elderly male. It would be reasonable to expect the car to have damage to its bonnet as well as possibly the windscreen.

The vehicle failed to stop at the scene and while initially the pedestrian was able to get to her feet, she had suffered injuries as a result of the collision, which were discovered later, and was conveyed to the RHH for treatment.  The pedestrian is currently in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Police understand there were witnesses to this incident who approached the pedestrian to assist at the time it occurred.  Any person with information is asked to contact Bellerive Police Station on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
