High Speed Offence | East Derwent Highway, Otago
At 9.00am this morning, a blue Suzuki Motorcycle was observed by police, travelling at 165km/h in an 80 km/h zone, on the East Derwent Highway, Otago.
The 21 year old rider from Bridgewater, is the holder of a Provisional licence.
As a result of the high speed offence the motorcycle was confiscated immediately, and will be impounded for 28 days. The high speed offence attracts a $900.00 fine, and a 4 month drivers licence disqualification.
Police are also considering further charges relative to dangerous or reckless driving, and would like to hear from any member of the public who witnessed the motorcyclist travelling at high speed.
