A 37-year-old Hadspen man has had his motorbike confiscated for 90 days and will be proceeded against by summons following a high speed riding incident on the Bass Highway yesterday.

Northern police were conducting speed detection duties around 5pm on the Bass Highway near Birralee Road when they detected a Blue Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle travelling east at 169 km/hr in a 110 km/hr zone.

The rider failed to stop when indicated by police and accelerated away from the scene.

As part of an ongoing investigation into the matter, police subsequently attended the owners address and spoke with the registered owner. The motorcycle was confiscated from a different address a short time later.
