High speed driver intercepted
At about 6pm on Saturday evening of the 29th January 2011, traffic police on the Midland Highway detected a northbound white 2003 Mercedes C180K sedan travelling at a speed in excess of 180 kph in the 110 kph zone.
The vehicle was being driver by a 55 year old male of Glenorchy and was intercepted at Powranna. Police had received calls in regard the manner it was being driven. The male driver will be summonsed to appear in court in relation to the matter.
As a result of the high speed the vehicle was travelling at, it was clamped under the powerful anti-hooning legislation. This legislation sees vehicles travelling in excess of 45 kph over the posted speed limit clamped for a period of 28 days.
