A 44-year-old female driver from Newstead has been charged with drink driving offences after being intercepted by police in Newstead around 7:30pm on Christmas Day.

The female driver returned a reading of 0.252 after being breath tested, which is five times the legal limit.

She has been disqualified from driving for a period of 12 months and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.
