High range drink driver detected on King Island
Police urge motorists to remember the dangers of drink driving after a driver was detected almost four time the legal alcohol limit on King Island last night.
Around 7pm police intercepted a vehicle on Netherby Street at Currie.
The driver, a 24-year-old woman, was subject to a roadside breath test and returned a positive indication for alcohol. The woman was subsequently transported to the Currie Police Station for further breath analysis which revealed her reading to be 0.190 – almost four times the legal limit.
The woman was issued an Excessive Drink Driving Notice and was disqualified from driving for 12-month. She will appear in court at a later date.
At the time of offending the woman had two passengers in her vehicle, one of which was a young child.
Police urge all motorists to remember the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.
