High level of compliance among licensed venues in Hobart

Tasmania Police and the Liquor and Gaming branch teamed up for a targeted operation in Hobart on Friday night, promoting public safety and responsible service and consumption of alcohol.

Inspector John Toohey said the joint operation aimed to ensure that licensed venues and individuals were complying with the relevant regulations.

“The operation also featured an educational component, where officials engaged with proprietors, staff, and patrons to raise awareness about responsible alcohol service and consumption practices,” he said.

One venue was issued an infringement for failing to display their liquor licence, however most establishments were found to be in compliance with regulations, reflecting a positive trend in responsible alcohol service.

“Tasmania Police is committed to keeping people safe, and collaborations with partner agencies like Liquor and Gaming helps us to ensure the well being of our community.”

“Fostering a safe and enjoyable social environment around our licensed venues is a shared responsibility between authorities, businesses and community members.”

“We want to make sure our community can enjoy the social scene that Hobart has to offer, while prioritising safety and responsibility.”

Further operations are planned in the lead up to the festive and New Year season.
