At 1130 am on Saturday 6/8/16 the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the North South Track on Mt Wellington for an injured Mountain Bike rider with suspected back injuries.

The rider fell on the track near the Lenah Valley fire trail.   Another ricer with this rider called Tasmania Police who activated the helicopter to rescue the rider.   A Police rescue crew and Ambulance paramedic rescue crew were winched onto the track.

They then treated the rider and secured him into a stretcher.   The helicopter then winched the rider in the stretcher with the paramedic into the aircraft.   Following this the police rescue crew was winched into the aircraft.   The rider was then flown to the RHH.    The winch was conducted amongst high trees in the area making it a more difficult and challenging rescue.
