Helicopter rescues over weekend

At approximately 8am on Saturday 9 October 2010 Tasmania Police were advised that a 55 year old female had injured her ankle on the Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair Overland Track near the Bert Nichols Hut and was unable to walk.

The Tasmania Police Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to rescue the woman but was diverted enroute to attend to a medical emergency at Bruny Island.

A 62 year old woman from Blackmans Bay had suffered a medical emergency at Adventure Bay. She was treated at the scene by members of the Tasmania Ambulance Service and then flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The helicopter was then able to attend at the Bert Nichols hut where a 55 year old woman from Acton was treated for an injured ankle and flown to Hobart in a stable condition.
