Helicopter Rescue – Park Beach

At 5:30pm on Thursday 16/1/14 Tasmania Police Search and Rescue received a request for assistance from Ambulance Tasmania. A 47 year old Dodges Ferry man had fallen on rocks at the western end of Park Beach and suffered a broken leg. Due to the difficult location and the seriousness of the injury the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated.

The Helicopter flew to the scene and dropped a Police Rescue Crewman and an Intensive Care Paramedic by hover exit nearby. After treatment and pain relief the helicopter returned and extracted the man by winching him from the location he fell.

The helicopter then flew the man to the Royal Hobart Hospital and he is in a stable condition.
